The federal government of Pakistan has made headlines with the purchase of 25 brand-new luxury vehicles worth a staggering 240 million rupees, earmarked for cabinet members.

According to a report by Dawn News, sources from the Cabinet Division disclosed that these newly acquired Honda City cars will be allocated to federal ministers and will serve as replacements for existing vehicles.

The total cost for these 25 luxury vehicles amounts to a hefty 240 million rupees. The government opted for 1500cc Honda City models, indicating a significant expense during a time when the country is grappling with economic challenges.

Sources also revealed that the fleet of new government cars has already been added to the Cabinet Division’s pool, awaiting allocation to senior officials.

In response to public inquiries, Kamran Afzal, Secretary of the Cabinet Division, confirmed the purchase. He elaborated that these new vehicles would replace older ones and emphasized that the procurement process was carried out with approval from the Austerity Committee to ensure compliance with regulations.

This development has sparked discussions about the government’s spending priorities, particularly at a time when Pakistan’s economy is under strain, and citizens are calling for more prudent fiscal management.
