When and Why Did Israel Decide to Destroy Pagers in Lebanon? Intelligence Sources Reveal

According to Arab media citing intelligence sources, Israel decided to destroy pagers after learning that Hezbollah had discovered their pagers had been hacked.

The media reports that Israeli intelligence was informed that two Hezbollah members realized their pagers were compromised. As a result, Israel quickly decided to destroy the pagers to preempt any potential actions by Hezbollah.

The report further reveals that Israel intercepted thousands of devices before they reached Hezbollah and kept the plan to destroy the pagers confidential, even from the United States. The original Israeli strategy was to destroy these devices if a formal conflict with Hezbollah arose.

Israel has employed advanced technology in its attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon. This includes simultaneous explosions in pagers used by Hezbollah members across various Lebanese regions, causing injuries to several Hezbollah members.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reports that the pager explosions resulted in eight fatalities, including a child, and over 2,500 injuries, with 200 in critical condition.

The explosions reportedly occurred in southern Lebanon and the outskirts of Beirut.
