In an effort to increase provincial revenue without burdening the public, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the collection of accurate data on restaurants, bakeries, and wedding halls across the province.

During a key meeting, where the first quarter’s tax collection targets were reviewed, Maryam Nawaz called for a strategic approach to boost Punjab’s financial resources. As part of this plan, she instructed relevant authorities to compile comprehensive and verified records of businesses such as restaurants, bakeries, and marriage halls, aiming to expand the tax base efficiently.

The Chief Minister also requested detailed records of government-owned lands from various departments and emphasized the need to utilize these assets effectively. The meeting saw a decision to delegate greater authority to assistant commissioners and other officials in the Punjab Revenue Authority, enabling them to play a stronger role in meeting revenue collection goals.

Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz approved the expansion of the Punjab Revenue Authority’s operations to more districts across the province. She stressed that the government aims to meet revenue targets without imposing additional taxes on citizens, focusing instead on improving tax compliance and resource management.

“I want to do more for the people of Punjab, but we face financial limitations. However, every single rupee collected will be invested back into the welfare of the people,” the Chief Minister stated, underscoring her commitment to ensuring that public funds are used efficiently for the benefit of the citizens.
